It was great to hear the crowds cheering as our now president Obama was inaugurated in Washington DC. For an instant, we could dream that we were not facing one of the biggest times of testing that our country has ever seen. The roar of the crowd seemed to say that, “everything is really all right.” The sight of Hollywood stars helped us to forget that our banks are not recovering, the stock market fell again today and the British pound is struggling signaling the problems we face really are global. It was a historic day. In fact, unless we get some real help from heaven, I believe this historic day is only the beginning of many historic days, some of which we may find ourselves not cheering or dreaming. We will snap back into reality one of these days. But until then, it is nice to enjoy a “reality holiday” and listen to speeches that continue to promise a bright and better future without telling us how we will get there or how much it will cost.
