Are You a Witch?

(I asked Kathy to step in as my guest blogger for today.)

Are you a witch? I’m not really trying to insult you, or accuse you of making potions or casting spells. But, I am trying to get your attention!

Every year, many people ignorantly celebrate Halloween and dress up like witches and goblins. If you would take a few minutes and research on the internet its true origins and what happens this time of year due to witchcraft and Satanism, I think you would be shocked. And hopefully, you would never again allow any children under your care to participate in any form of Halloween.

Also, if you are a believer, I’m sure you will vehemently deny that you are a witch. But—according to the Bible, “…rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” Rebelling against God’s authority in your life, or those set in godly authority over your life, means you are rejecting His Word. And by rejecting His Word, the Bible says God will reject you.

Witchcraft also attempts to use the illegal power of the soul to control situations or people. Too many believers try to subtly control others through manipulation, intimidation, or insinuation. If you are a wife, you know what I mean. A silent little shoulder shrug aimed strategically at your husband can send powerful signals. To God, that is just as much rebelling against His word and His ways as is trying to use tarot cards or hypnotism to control your husband.

So, although you may not have a pointy hat, a whisker on your chin, and ride a broom, you could still be operating in a category that you do NOT want to be found in. Rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to carry you through life. You will be empowered to obey God’s authority, and you will leave the control to the Word of God.
